Healthily the app
In February 2023, I completed my certification in UX design at CareerFoundry. I developed and designed my proposal for an app that can digitize the German healthcare sector.
Design thinking
In my UX course, I really got to know Design Thinking, which is a "framework" known from the design world. Design Thinking is a non-linear process that consists of 5 iterative development phases, where you work back and forth between the phases until you find a solution that best matches the user's needs, motivation and behavior.
The process is user-oriented, agile and ensures a more sustainable approach to developing products, services and yes, I myself have used Design Thinking in my work as a communications specialist.
Case description
In my UX certification course, I chose to focus on developing a health app, as the health care system in Germany (where I live) is not digitized in the same way as we know it from Denmark. My starting point was the challenges that exist in finding a doctor who matches one's needs.
In order to understand the users' needs, and thus not just my own starting point, I prepared a number of different qualitative and quantitative studies, in order to be able to put myself in the users' shoes; create empathy.
Based on research and data collection, I found that the challenge did not just consist of being able to find and book an appointment with a healthcare practitioner, the users also lacked a way in which they could create an overview of appointments, medical history and documents.
The app developed into a 360-degree solution to a very universal problem: finding and booking a doctor's appointment and, secondarily, creating an overview for the user.
